Delete your Email unread

With the growth of Spam you need to do something Sitemap

*

So now I do not open anything straight off. In Outlook Express in
View | Layout | Preview Page be sure that Show Preview Pane is not checked.

And I delete unread anything on the list of messages that is not obviously addressed to me, anything whose sender looks even faintly suspicious, anything with a title I do not want to see, or no title, and certainly anything with no content. And I never click any attachments unless I am expecting them from a recognised friend. There are two types of messages that MUST be deleted unread.

  • Messages from people you don't know with .exe or Word attachments
  • Zipped files unless you have your Anti-Virus software in use and up-to-date. Which of course you have, haven't you?
And you must NOT answer any Spam message; it only encourages them.

You could filter all your spam into a separate directory and delete the lot without even reading the headings, but I am not brave enough to do that. Having said that, here are 10 classes of Spam that you can delete unread!

1. It was forwarded by someone who thinks multinational companies got that way by giving away things for free.

2. Its header contains two consecutive dollart signs, three XXXs, or five exclamation marks.

3. It is from Amazon offering you more books you don't want to read.

4. It is copied to another 6232 names

5. It shows a 900k attachment unless it is photo from a personal friend

6. It is marked 'virus warning' from someone who thinks 'better safe than sorry' when they read a brilliant hoax

7. Its subject is 'miracle weight loss', 'Cheap loans', B.A.s, M.A.s, Ph.D.s !!!

8. It is after 6 o'clock and it is from your boss

9. It is after 6 o'clock and it is from your most useless employee

10. It has been sent by your lover to your home address
