This is the third way to create a stripe down the page. This one uses a background gif on the BODY tag which is at least 1250 wide and just, say 50 in height |
| You can have a table, with the edge of the first column of cells coinciding with the edge of the stripe. This forces the text out of the stripe. This technique means that you can have a stripe of any colour and texture and the text will still be readable |
| It is not practicable to have the table right on the seam. If you wanted text in the stripe as well, have a blank cell between the two lots of text. | Note that it is quite difficult to predict where the end of the stripe will fall on different browsers |
